Hey, I’m Ms. Smith! One of my favorite things to tell our students is that I knew I wanted to be a Middle School Counselor ever since I was in Middle School. I was raised in the Coachella Valley. Graduated from La Quinta High School and always wanted the opportunity to give back to my community. I graduated with my Master’s in Guidance and Counseling at California State University San Bernardino in 2022 and my Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2019.
I started my counseling career with the Student Assistance Program at DSUSD as a group counselor. I immediately clicked with the positive culture at La Quinta Middle School. After my first year, I was honored to be hired on as the Head Counselor the following year. Being a part of La Quinta Middle School has been such a rewarding experience. I love getting to know all our students, being a part of the schools climate and helping our students with social, emotional and academic concerns. I strive to make an impact on our students by being a supportive and caring adult, in hopes they can feel seen and heard, encouraging them to thrive inside and outside of the classroom.
Outside of La Quinta Middle School you can find me with my dog Bella, on a hiking trail, traveling, exploring new cities, trying new food and experiences, or spending time with friends and family. My personal goal this year is to attend a new music festival and travel somewhere new outside of the United States. I’m looking forward to the school year, it’s going to rock
